Seriline brings Mobile ID to readers already on the wall
Moving to mobile credentials no longer means buying new readers. Seriline, a Bitwards partner supplying mobile credentials across Sweden and the Nordics, has an upgrade kit that adds Mobile ID to Cidron VG2 readers already on the wall — and the credentials themselves are ordered from the online shop and delivered instantly.
Seriline is the Swedish identity and access management specialist behind the Cidron reader range and the Serix platform, and one of the partners who deliver Bitwards Mobile ID to customers in the region. Its new update kit adds support for mobile credentials to the installed Cidron VG2 RFID reader family.
Customers who already have VG2 readers on their doors can simply upgrade them where they are. Nothing is ripped out and nothing is replaced: the reader that has been reading plastic cards starts reading phones as well, and a building can move from cards to mobile credentials at whatever pace suits it — without a hardware budget to approve first.
Tap the reader, the door opens
The upgraded readers work over NFC, on both Android and iPhone. A user holds a phone carrying the Bitwards ONE app against the reader and the door opens — the same proximity gesture as presenting a card, and the same one people already use to pay.
Cards and phones work side by side on the same reader, so nobody has to be migrated on a deadline. A visitor with a card and an employee with a phone use the same door, and the access control system sees both the way it always has.
Ordered online, delivered instantly
Mobile IDs are ordered and managed in Serix Online, Seriline’s portal: issuing a credential and revoking one are the same few clicks as for a physical card, and both kinds live in the same place.
The difference is what happens after the order. A plastic card has to be produced, posted and handed over; a Mobile ID is delivered at once and is ready to use. Nobody waits for the post, and nobody has to be in the building to collect anything.
Through Serix IAM they can also be connected to several access control systems at once, from different manufacturers, with instant provisioning for any user. For a customer running more than one system across a portfolio — which is most customers with more than one building — that is the difference between one credential process and three.
