New Smart Doors Revolutionize Access Control

Lock manufacturers Dormakaba and Südmetall have both unveiled intelligent lock bodies that resemble traditional mechanical lock bodies but contain smart technology, enabling their use as part of Bitwards' digital access control platform.
Bitwards application and lock structure

While smart locks have been a buzzword, a fusion of technology from Bitwards and innovative lock manufacturers is turning doors into smart assets right from the factory floor.

Lock manufacturers Dormakaba and Südmetall have both unveiled intelligent lock bodies that resemble traditional mechanical lock bodies but contain smart technology, enabling their use as part of Bitwards’ digital access control platform.

Dormakaba’s intelligent MTL lock body combines a traditional mechanical lock body, security locking, and Bitwards’ intelligent mobile access technology. This lock body is compatible with all mechanical Nordic doors and can be operated conventionally with a key or with Bitwards’ mobile key.

The prominent German lock manufacturer Südmetall has also introduced a smart lock body suitable for all Central and Southern European doors. Similar to Dormakaba’s lock, this one operates both through mobile and key access, with the added feature of unlocking the lock with an RFID card.

With these new solutions, doors become intelligent right from the factory. Traditionally, doors are installed as “dumb” components and wired on-site into the access control system. In the case of these smart doors, the lock body already incorporates access control and is simply activated for the customer on-site.

Bitwards’ solutions are compatible with all types of property doors, offering a comprehensive access solution for property owners, users, and residents.

The digital setup occurs at the final destination, once the customer has moved in. At this point, the customer gains access to access control and mobile unlocking, in addition to traditional key access. All doors are “mobile-ready,” and the customer decides whether to activate this feature!
